As you might guess from its name,
it’s a Festival to defend the right
to culture and communication,
dedicated to all those artists that
these days, getting darker still for
Italian culture, need, want and have
the right to perform, work and
express themselves freely and can’t
find a place to... or worse, meet
but closed doors.
While so many Theatres, Cultural
associations and Performance
companies shut down, we’ll try
harder to open new doors, flood a
district so loved by the powers of
the fashion industry, bringing back
the joyfulness and culture of a
Theatre which sure won’t change
things outright, but may help make
them better. Theatre is good for the
people, the more so when reaches the
streets and really is everybody’s
Theatre... since it’s free, and
compels to laugh and clap hands and
take part in the show with no need
for shallowness. And since it brings
toghether, deflating diversities,
dispersing fear.
The Theatre as outward gaze. Each
time we wrap ourselves up, beyond
lonelyness, we leave the field to
whoever wants to recklessly profit
from our non-presence to feed its
interests. The Theatre fosters the
hope for a world more beautiful,
clean, and loving. The Festival can
be a way to take over the place we
live in, the people living next to
us, ourselves and all we need to
live free.
The Festival is self-financed! It’s
not sustained by profitability but
by the help, participation and
communication of the Scuola di Arti
Circensi e Teatrali, associations,
unions, Theatres and parishes of the
Isola district; the many shows
entered in the program will all be
totally free to audiences, with free
shows at the end of which people may
freely offer a contribution. |
